Don't Be a Drag, Just be a Queen

Today James and I met for lunch for like the first time since I've been working. It was fab. There just so happens to be a Taco Cabana exactly half way between our offices. Now, those not from Texas (or New Mexico or Oklahoma) proabably don't know about the Taco Cabana. It's almost as good as a real Mexican restaurant-kind of-and it's as cheap as Taco Bell. Fabulous. Also, they have Diet Dr. Pepper.

As a side note, I heard the new Lady Gaga song 6 times today in the maybe 45 minutes I had the radio on in my car. That means by this time next week I will be WAY over it. I wish I could have a longer relationship with songs, but I can't help it... I was born this way ;)

Somewhat pathetic, but I'll share nonetheless

My visiting teacher just left. Normally they are both here (every month-they're so good), but for whatever reason tonight it was just the one. She was here for 2 1/2 hours. I basically wouldn't let her leave. Let me just say that living here for the past 8 months has been hard. And its gotten even harder in the last couple of months. I've cried a lot and I miss my life in Utah.
I told my visiting teacher just how rough of a time I've been having tonight, and without any hesitation at all she said she'll be at my house every Wednesday night just to chat and hang out. I could have kissed her! I didn't, but I did tear up. I'll tell you, visiting teaching is truly inspired of God.

There! It's done! It's all caught up. Finally I can move on with my life here on the blog. So, I've been reading a lot of Nat the Fat Rat. A LOT. Like I started at the very beginning and am now reading April of 2009. A lot. She is my new best friend in my head. I have several of these, the most famous of which is Wendy Williams. I love her. Wendy validates my having friends in my head because she too has friends in her head... she's says so on her show. I am also friends with Kelly from Kelly's Korner. She's the first friend I made in my head.

But back to my friend Nat. She has been an inspiration to me in SO MANY ways since I started reading her a couple of weeks ago. One way will benefit this blog: I will blog more, I will blog not only events but also stories, and feelings! I'm going to see what this blog has to offer ME.

Happy 26th Birthday James!

Yesterday was James' birthday. Now, I had some semi-elaborate plans for him in my head a few weeks ago, but the boy was giving no inclination that he wanted ANYTHING, and eventually outright told me he didn't want to acknowledge his turning 26. So Sunday we went to Brodie and Jennika's and ate steak and potatoes and a "better than sex"/"death by chocolate"/"skor cake"/what have you that I made. The seven of us devoured that thing. Again-no pics because of the flip cam!
The only thing James really wanted to do was go to this restaurant he'd been telling me about-he'd been there with co-workers, but didn't eat. So that's where we went last night. Now, he had said they had a larg chicken fried steak, but this is absolutely ridiculous.
AND it's not even the largest one they serve! You get your picture on the wall if you eat the biggest one.
They did have an AmAzInG homeade german chocolate cake w/Blue Bell vanilla on the side please :)

Superbowl

This is the first year in our married life that we haven't had a Superbowl Party! Instead we got to go meet this pink little princess!Sally and Tag were also in town visiting the baby so we got some pizzas from Costco, I made queso and brownies, and we all ate junk and watched the game. It was a good time.
I'm still out of picture-taking mode from that darn flip-cam...

Christmas in Iowa

We spent another fab Christmas in the great state of Iowa with the fam. We left late Thursday night, stopped in Dallas to sleep, and then traveled what-should-have-been-only-12-but-really-took-15 hours because of snow on Christmas Eve. We got to my parents' house grumpy, tired, and and starved. We didn't do much but eat, chat for a bit, then go to sleep. But my mom did show off her fancy new flip cam that she got for an early present. I was jealous... until I opened my first present Christmas morning! I was greeted with this precious thing!
Which can be blamed for the lack of pictures of the trip. Instead I filmed everything-and I do mean everything: deer in the back yard, Giselle chasing wild turkeys, sledding, James squatting while holding my brother and sister on his back, EVERYTHING.

We stayed for nearly a week, which still didn't seem long enough. We saw movies and ate lots of food. We went shopping and played video games. Oh, and we had mad drama with Lily. On our last day we get home from sledding and all of a sudden people are hollering at me to "Call a vet! Call a vet! Somethings wrong with Lily's leg!" So we all freak out while Lily whails louder than a dog her size should and I call several vets, none of which actually have a veterinarian working because they're on vacay. Eventually the poor thing stops screaming but wouldn't put any weight on her back right leg. So we carried her everywhere for the next 24 hours, during which Giselle got really jealous and Lily got really spoiled. We're pretty sure she just pulled a muscle (from our extensive online research) while she was playing with James. We also found out that she's a GENIUS because weeks after the incident she would lift her leg whenever she wanted to be picked up! Who knows how long she was trying to milk our sympathy.

Anyways, on our way back from Iowa we stopped in Austin to stay the night and see new baby Savannah. She is so precious. We got back from on New Year's Eve at about 7, watched a little tele, and were asleep by 10:30. Ha!
